I have never been to a camp as bad as this! I was threatened and talk to like a junkie because i would not stay there with my kids. The mens bathroom is gutted so only the womens bathroom was available to guests and i have young girls that simply do not feel comfortable using the bathroom or shower with a random man 3 feet away from them in the same room. I was willing to pay for two days even though i was only there for a total of 14 hrs before i was packed up and gone and was still over charged. Luckily i have video to back this all up and you can even hear him screaming he does not care about my kids being comfortable! Id stay clear of this place.
By the way- It took these people 11 months to cash a check that I wrote last September 2016. Nice surprise. Cash or check is all they take by the way. No. We won't be going back.
The camp owner was unbelievably rude, profane, and physically aggresive towards a group of young people. I was camping with my children and I heard the owner yelling profanaties and threatening this group. He was clearly intoxicated. He went so far as to start a fist fight with one man, and it quickly escalated when the camp owners employees joined in. Even after the fight broke up and the young group was trying to leave the owner reached into one of the vehicles and continued assaulting the young man, and the camp employees were surrounding vehicles and hitting the vehices and threatening the group. I was scared for the safety of my children. I will never go back there and strongly encourage anyone with childen to stear clear of this horror show of an establishment.
Very nice camp ground. My Girl Scout Troop enjoyed our time there. Play ground could use a little upgrade according to the girls but they still had fun. Grates are available you just need to ask in the office. The Knight family that owns and runs it were very kind.
UPDATED: We have stayed at this campground a number of times - It used to be very well maintained and run. While we love the almost full hook-up grassy sites (no cable) and the location to Camden, the Maine coast and Young's Lobster pound, I am disappointed to report that some of the recent reviews are true. The older man who checked in our party had been drinking to say the least. There was no number on one of the 2 campsites we reserved causing an issue with our own group. The campground offers no discount to seniors, or the normal groups. But the reason I went in and changed this review was the bathrooms- You have to be kidding! What a dump! Forget the fact that there was no paper towels or even soap- drywall was pulled off the wall in much of the men's room and a large section of a wall board was resting in a shower stall- We will come back to see if things improve but this place needs attention now.
Cozy little campground with a lot of potential. They had a trashy band ( Tyler Healy Band ) which must be new to the music scene because the "show" was more of them smoking pot off stage with children nearby while playing mainstream music. Band members assaulting 14 year olds because they were too intoxicated to realize what they were doing. The turnout for the event was not good due to weather but that does not mean you can just not put on the show. It was clear the band took advantage of the situation to make a quick buck. A lot of the 1 star reviews are affiliated with the band. The band shows up late and takes their time setting up. Places about 5 songs and the takes a 45 minute break to the point they did not start playing again until the owners said something. The show from The Tyler Healy Band was not worth the outrageous price they asked the campground to pay. I have been to big venues in the rain/fog where actual bands play and they never had crackling sound or said they could not play because they were being shocked. Do not let their petty childish remarks keep you from enjoying a small campground stay. The bathrooms were also separated and in working order. I never encountered a man in the woman's bathroom. From an outside perspective the one hiccup during our stay ( the situation with the band ) is not a reason for us to not go back.
